What is Basic Skills and Development Education?

Basic Skills and Development Education is an innovative educational and training project aimed at teachers and technical staff of NGOs that lasts three years with different levels of involvement.

The project aims to build a participatory and reflective theoretical and methodological tools to support teachers and technical staff of NGOs working in the DEAR school.

The tool is a guide that aims at facilitating the integration of content, methodologies and evaluation criteria related to solidarity, peace, sustainable development and analysis of global inequalities in the sequencing of topics within the curriculum the primary and secondary education focused on the development of basic skills.

The project is defined by three main actions:

1. First, the conformation of a group or community that help participants build and share a theoretical and methodological framework of reference (from education and basic skills from the definition of the field performance of the DEAR) establish training requirements and participate in meetings, workshops and discussion groups to identify the challenges faced. 2. Secondly, it will be a process of realization of proposals to incorporate the curriculum (through workshops and virtual interactions), the analysis of these proposals and draft a document that will guide prior to the third stage.

3. Third and finally, involve the promotion and support for the team with preparation of educational professionals and institutions wishing to implement the guide. We conducted interviews, classroom observations and evaluations from the team that performed the test team and the production of the guide. This pilot will help improve the outcome of the program.

In these three stages, the characters are the teachers and technical staff of NGOs, since the purpose of process is the reconstruction of practices and discourses from the reflection of the experience.
